What I Examine

This best full face MTB helmet comes with different thickness pads to offer a secure fit to any face shape. I tested this helmet in large size for my 23″ head circumference. I used the thicker pad for my neck and slimmer cheek pads for my face. After this helmet fit precisely and felt lightweight on my head. Other than MIPS technology, its honeycomb material can absorb a super high tack energy impact at high speed. As compared to the Troy Lee Design Stage I found this helmet more safe and stable on my head.

Its AirEvac ventilation keep my goggles fog-free

When I used my Smith’s goggles with this helmet then its design perfectly matches the curvature of the goggles frame. This alignment keeps fog-causing air out of my goggles. During the evaluation, I also tested other goggles brands which are also compatible with the Mainline. Moreover, this helmet has a channel in the back to hold the goggles strap perfectly. I found this helmet compatible with all types of goggles.

Its AirEvac ventilation system has 21 vent openings that allow good airflow around my entire head, chin, and neck even at slow speed. After 30 minutes of the test ride, I did not get any sweat on my head. Its ventilation system is good enough to keep the rider from melting on warmer days. However, as compared to Troy Lee’s design Stage I found this helmet relatively hotter.

Different thickness pads to maintain a sung fit

There is no dial knob in the back of this helmet for fitting adjustment. According to the manufacturer, interchangeable pads of different thicknesses can make a decent grip on the rider’s head.

My helmet comes with spare pads kit in accessories that includes 3 pairs of cheek pads, two neck role pads, and two crown liners. I found these pads are soft and feel nice on my skin. After changing thickness pads this helmet sits so perfectly that there is no pressure point and undue movement. I also found these pads are very easy to replace. Moreover, after washing I did not feel any change in these pads’ thickness and softness. These X-static pads also have anti-microbial properties so after sweat absorption pads did not give me any sweat smell.

Koroyd + MIPS technology to offer superior protection

Its Honeycomb-like material calls koroyd, can absorb high-impact superior energy while allowing air to pass through easily. According to the manufacturer, these crumple-zone cylinders crush uniformly to absorb rotational impact.
On the other hand, MIPS sliding plane technology also helps to reduce rotational forces without absorbing them. Smith brand blends these two technologies to absorb super high tack energy impact during downhill racing. Our safety experts mark it the safest downhill mountain bike helmet.

Luckily I did not meet any accident with this helmet on my head. However, last month my friend’s head crashed into a rock from 9ft height while wearing this helmet. This Helmet’s outer material got scratches but he did not get a single scratch on his head. However, he got a fracture in his arm and remained hospitalized for 1 week. He is completely satisfied with this helmet’s crash protection ability.

 Smith Aerocore technology

The main theme of smith Aerocore technology is to design a helmet that uses less material but can absorb impact energy efficiently. Now, you can better understand the purpose of the honeycomb webbing layer in this helmet. The use of Koroyd material also means a lightweight helmet with better airflow. As a result, there is an excellent blend of weight, ventilation, and protection in this best MTB helmet.

 Excellent comfort level

It is the best MTB full face helmet for the price. Its lightweight, good ventilation, superior protection, and goggles compatibility make it very pleasant for me to wear for long riding sessions in summer. I used its chin bar vent opening for a drink purpose without taking off this helmet. If you are searching for the safest helmet for his aggressive downhill cycling activities then this helmet is the best option. Highly recommended!

What I Examine

This best convertible mtb helmet is certified for downhill riding and BMX racing. When I test this helmet in large size for my 23″ head circumference it fits sung and squeezes my cheeks. However, when I used thinner cheek pads that come with helmet accessories then it feels very comfortable.

As compared to the Giro switchblade, I found this helmet lightweight and more ventilated. During this helmet evaluation, I felt improved air circulation around my head even at low speed. I removed its chin bar while uphill riding and reinstalled it again during downhill racing. However, I have to take off this helmet every time before mode switching. Its high-end protective features with its versatility on the trail make this helmet more expensive than other full face helmets.

 The tool-free removable chin bar

During the ride, I removed its chin bar without much effort. There are three visible clamps, two on each side near the ears and one on the backside of the helmet. But as opposed to the Giro switchblade, I feel the need to take off this helmet before reinstalling its chin bar.

 Flex-spherical MIPS technology

In Flex-spherical MIPS technology, the sliding plane is integrated with the 360’ locking system of the helmet. This technology was born after the close collaboration between BELL and MIPS. This helmet’s inner EPS core sits firmly against my head, and the MIPS sliding plane is now hidden between the EPS core and outer shells.

As compared to Smith Mainline, this helmet MIPS sliding plan does not produce irritating noise on the rough trail. According to the manufacturer, this spherical technology or ball-and-socket design can excellently redirect rotational impact forces. Moreover, its variable density EPS core can manage energy transfer from different speed impacts.

   Dual flow ventilation system

There are 2 brow ports and 19 helmet vents that allow cool air to intake and push hot air out. During the trial at 90’F temperature, It feels like air conditioning around my head due to the quick evaporation of sweat.

   Comfortable and secure fit system

Its float-fit race system featured a rubber over-molded dial knob that is suspended off the back of the head. This dial allows me to do the quick adjustment with one hand in micrometer sensitivity. During the evaluation, Its large size sat comfortably on my intermediate oval shape head, and I did not feel any pressure point or undue movement.

X-static and XT2 padding with a sweat guide channel

Its X-static padding is designed in such a way that it can channel the absorbed sweat to drips away from the brow. These X-static pads are made of quick-dry material. Moreover, there is silver fiber woven-in material that has anti-microbial properties. These pads remain free from sweat smell. Furthermore, these pads are attached to the helmet interior with double side tape. So, you can easily remove it for washing purposes.

   Chinstrap with magnetic FIDLOCK buckle

In open face mode, Its tri glide chin strap make a perfect V around my ears. I feel easy to buckle its chin strap due to its magnetic FIDLOCK. This magnetic buckle is easy to manipulate even with one gloved hand. Its mechanical engagement keeps it securely locked.

   Adjustable visor and camera mount

After moving to the fully up position I parked goggles and glasses underneath its visor without any problem. Moreover, You can also remove it from the helmet without using any tool. A seamless camera mount that comes with this helmet accessories is easy to install without any need for zip ties. According to the manufacturer, this seamless camera mount has the ability to break away in case of an impact.

Pros
  • Two great helmets for the price of one
  • Best downhill mountain bike helmet
  • Come in 9 different graphic design
  • Excellent quality
  • Washable quick-dry padding
  • Comfortable and secure fit
  • Air channel matrix for full head ventilation

What I Examine

This is the lightest and most ventilated full-face helmet that the Fox brand ever designed. During the trial, I found this helmet breathable enough like an open-face helmet. Its sturdy shell after being combined with MIPS felt very secure for enduro racing. Its fully integrated strong chin bar has saved my jaws in a speedy downhill accident. Moreover, I did not face any issue with this helmet fitting because it comes in 4 different sizes and each size includes three different pad sizes in accessories. I never heard any complaints about this helmet fitting from my friends who are using it for more than one year. If you are searching for the best downhill mtb helmet for the summer season then Fox PROFRAME is the right helmet for you. This helmet design is an excellent blend of breathability with full face coverage.

 Best in class for ventilation

When I put this helmet to the test in hot weather, its 15 big bore intakes and 9 exhaust vents force fresh air to flow around my chin, neck, and scalp. Moreover, its fixed position sun visor directed airflow into its forehead vents opening. Riding with FOX PROFRAME surpassed my expectation of full-face helmet ventilation. If you are searching for a helmet with open-face breathability and full-face protection then this helmet is a perfect choice. However, as compared to the troy lee design stage, this helmet reduced a little bit my hearing ability.

Smooth chin strap with FIDLOCK buckle

I tested this helmet latching system with gloves handed. Its FIDLOCK buckle works seamlessly. Moreover, its mechanical engagement keeps it securely locked on the rough trail.

Varizorb EPS liner to deal with different speed impact

Its Varizorb EPS core is designed by sandwiching cone shape softer foam between layers of denser foam. Testing experiments approved that Varizorb EPS foam can efficiently slow down the impact by providing more cushions for the head. Moreover, Varizorb EPS after blending with slip plane MIPS technology makes this helmet incredibly safe for aggressive rides.

 Breathable anti-microbial inner padding

Its inner pad lining is soft enough to feel nice to my skin. Moreover, after absorbing sweat its pads have the power to keep this helmet smell-free. Sweat evaporation phenomena through these pads feel like air conditioning around my head. These pad linings are also removable for washing purposes.

Pros
  • Top of the class in ventilation.
  • Secure and comfortable fit for any face shape.
  • Super comfortable.
  • Excellent quality for the price.
  • Lightweight helmet with a secure fit.
  • DH certified mtb helmet.
  • Varizorb and MIPS technology to absorb impact.
  • Multiple color options.
  • Helmet with the most advanced chip strap buckle.
  • Smell-free and washable inner padding.
Cons
  • Fit visor position is unable to park goggles underneath.

What I Examine

This helmet’s large size fits well for my 23inch head circumference. I feel it is very lightweight and stable on my head after changing its thickness pads. With this comfortable helmet, I felt secure during downhill racing. Another thing that impressed me is its very front chin bar vent opening, which helps me to drink my favorite Bacon Soda without taking off this helmet. While riding, I can also hear my friends clearly because this helmet above ears vents does not block my ears from surrounding. Moreover, my Bluetooth headset also works well with this helmet. This helmet ventilation system is impressive that can keep a rider from melting in summer..

Interchangeable thickness pads for fitting adjustments

This helmet comes with a bunch of 10 spare pads of different thicknesses. These interchangeable pads make this helmet flexible enough to accommodate the different shapes of the head and face comfortably. These pads include:-

  • Three pairs of jaw pads of thickness 35 mm, 25 mm, and 15 mm.
  • Two neck roll pads of thickness 25 mm, and 15 mm.
  • Two inner liners of thickness 13 mm, and 10 mm

All these X-static pads have anti-microbial properties to keep this helmet free from sweat smell. After washing, I did not feel any change in these pads’ thickness or softness.

Important Note

There is no dial knob in the back of this helmet for fitting adjustment. Only thickness pads are there to make a decent grip on the user’s head.

Best lightest full face MTB helmet on the market

Extra weight can never be a positive factor to increase the protection ability of any helmet. So, Troy Lee did a great job by using fiber enrichment shell material that keeps down helmet weight without compromising rider safety. Fiber enrichment material can give high penetration resistance without being heavier. Moreover, its in-mold construction also helps to increase vent sizes without compromising shell structural strength. So, all of these result in a lightweight and rigid shell. However, as compared to the IXS trigger, this Troy lee design stage helmet is 63 grams heavier.

Excellent ventilation through its multiple intake and exhaust ports

Troy lee wisely build this best ventilated full face MTB helmet with 11 intake and 14 exhaust ports. These 25 vent holes allow a good amount of air to flow even at a slow speed. During the trial, I feel like air conditioning around my head due to sweat evaporation even at 95′ F. Moreover, its very front chin bar vent also helped me in getting fresh air to my lungs. I did not face any issues while drinking through this wide chin bar vent. Our testing expert also marks it as the best ventilated full face cycling helmet.

Large Vent holes near ears help to hear very clearly

Mostly rider hearing ability becomes limited due to ears coverage by full face helmet pads. But this helmet solved this problem by giving two large vent holes perfectly above the ears. The biggest difference between this helmet and Fox Proframe is the above ears vent holes. Moreover, Troy Lee Design Stage has more openings around the sides than fox Proframe.
During the trial, these 2 vent openings also facilitate me to use a Bluetooth headset. I am completely satisfied with Troy Lee Design Stage comfort level. It doesn’t feel like a full-face helmet.

Its dual-density inner core designed to absorb different speed impact

This helmet’s chin bar and the inner core are covered with EPP material. The EPP inner layer feels softer to touch. According to the manufacturer, this EPP material can absorb low-speed impact while the outer EPS layer of the core can absorb high-speed impact force. EPP material has a range of unique properties like impact energy absorption, thermal insulation, and chemical resistance. Furthermore, this helmet is also integrated with MIPS technology that helps to absorb rotational impact forces. Its fiber enrichment shell material after integrating with dual density core takes this helmet protection ability to the top level.

The magnetic buckle is easy to manipulate with one hand

This helmet chin straps are buckled by magnetic FIDLOCK. I feel it easy to open and close this magnetic FIDLOCK buckle even with a gloved hand. Its mechanical engagement keeps it securely locked.

Go-Pro set up on the front crown point

If you want to make a film about your riding adventure then this helmet is also perfect for this job. I easily install a camera on its front crown point by using an anti-slip chin strap mount Hero 9.

Pros
  • Lightweight helmet
  • Excellent ventilation
  • Bluetooth headset adoptable
  • Stylish helmet with a comfortable fit
  • Easy goggles accommodation
  • MIPS equipped helmet
  • Dual-density inner foam
  • Storage beg and Go-Pro mount in accessories

What I Examine

This helmet is the lightest in our entire list of selected full-face helmets. During speedy downhill cycling, I even forget I am wearing this full face helmet. It does not obstruct my vision. For my 23″ head size I first tried the M/L size that did not feel sung then I ordered the S/M size. The S/M size fits me perfectly with small cheek pads.

During the test ride, I found it ventilation fantastic. The key point in designing this ultra-lightweight full face helmet is the X-frame. Internal X-frame allowed the designer to increase vent sizes without any compromise on shell structure strength. X-frame addition also makes this helmet certified for downhill riding while keeping the weight to an absolute minimum. I not only feel safer and secure with it but also ensure it would do well to protect me in any crash.

   Fully in-molded uni-body construction

Its fully in-mold uni-body construction involves the direct connection of the helmet shell with EPS material. This manufacturing technique results in increased structural strength by eliminating the weak joint. The advantage of fusing everything is the reduction in weight and volume without any compromise on structural strength. After evaluation, our safety expert appreciated IXS’s effort in designing this strong body helmet without adding extra material.

   Top level protection

The internal skeleton that is braced in the chin-bar adds tremendous strength to the structure of this helmet. IXS call this skeleton an X-frame. X-frame helps this helmet to earn its ASTM DH certification. The high strength-to-weight ratio of this helmet is due to this X-frame addition. My friend had a pretty significant crash recently with this helmet on. He got the main impact on his chin and forehead during speedy downhill riding. This helmet did its job efficiently but got some unseen damage hiding inside the EPS foam.

   Dial knob for fitting adjustments

Its Ergo fit retention system includes a dial knob that is integrated with horizontally and vertically adjustable cradles. This flexible cradle keeps the helmet securely in position without creating any pressure point on my head. After evaluation, we also found that this helmet can adopt every head shape without giving any undue movement.

Muti-thickness cheek pads to customize fit

There are 2 sets of cheek pads of thickness 15 mm and 25 mm. If I share my experience with this helmet, I prefer to use cheek pads of 15 mm thickness to get a comfortable fit. It S/M size feels better but a little tight on my face.

   Great helmet with fantastic ventilation

Its 27 vent openings keep my head cool during enduro cycling. These vent sizes and shapes are designed to maximize heat exchange in the skull section of the head form. Thus, At 85’F temperature, I did not feel any need to remove this helmet because of thermal discomfort.

   Goggles accommodation

Its 3 point adjustable visor can easily park goggles underneath. Moreover, there is a rubber pad in the back to hold the goggles strap.

Suitable for an all-day ride in summer

During testing, I found that only one-hand operation needs for fitting adjustment, visor positioning, goggle parking, and FIDLOCK buckling or unbuckling. Moreover, I took off and put on this helmet comfortably with one hand. Moreover, Its lightweight, excellent ventilation, and secure fitting make this helmet very comfortable for long riding sessions in summer.

Pros
  • Best lightweight DH helmet
  • Durable shell material
  • Ventilation like open face helmet
  • Moisture-wicking pads
  • Suitable for all head shape
  • Best budget full face mtb helmet
  • Comfortable to wear all day long
  • Precision interlock with micro fitting adjustments
  • Uncompromised protection
  • Goggles compatible adjustable visor
  • Magnetic closure
  • In-mold Unibody technology
Cons
  • Lack of MIPS or other rotational impact absorption technology

6. SEVENiDP Model 23 ABS, Full face mountain bike helmet

SEVENiDP full face MTB helmet model 23 ABS

Our Score
Lightweight: 8/10
Ventilation: 8/10
Protection Insurance: 8/10
Comfort: 7/10
Visor Adjustability: 8/10
Material Quality: 7/10
Specifications & Features
  • Available color: Grey/Yellow, Army Camo, Black, Sand/Black, White/Blue
  • Available size: X-Small, Small, medium, large, X-large and XX-large
  • Suitable for: Enduro, Trail & Downhill riding,
  • Weight: 1.89 pounds
  • Shell Material: ABS fiberglass
  • EPS Inner foam core
  • Washable Quick release inner lining
  • Adjustable & breakaway sun visor
  • 23 big bore vent opening
  • Padded Chin strap with clip buckle
  • CPSC, CE, AUS/NZ, and ASTM F1952-15 (downhill) Certified
What I Examine

This helmet’s updated design helps to reduce weight while offering excellent crash protection. I tested this helmet in large size and this helmet offer such a sold and sung fit that it moved very little with my shaking head on rough trails. Moreover, Its 23 big bore vents offer enough venting to keep my head cool. As I picked up speed, a rush of fresh air flew around my head. This ABS shell material helmet has great value for the money. Many enduro riders have approved this helmet as incredibly safe for aggressive rides.

 Goggle dock for goggle parking

This helmet design has a large area on the back where no ventilation ports exist. This area is designed to hold the goggle strap on the back without affecting helmet ventilation. Moreover, this helmet goggle port helps to keep eyewear in position while riding on rough terrain. However, this helmet’s frontal design does not suit well for large-size goggles. I am using Leatt velocity 6.5 goggles which fit well with this helmet.
This helmet sun visor has limited up and down movement. So, I used to park my goggle on the back while placing the strap under the visor.

 Crash release visor

Its beautifully designed visor is wide enough to keep my face from sunburn in sunny weather. This visor can add a layer of protection against rain drops, flying debris, leaves, branches, and snowfall. You can also mount a POV camera or torch light to this visor. Moreover, this visor is designed to snap away from the helmet in event of a crash. In this way, impact forces that can transfer to the skull or neck dissipate. You can also snap back this visor into its place without using bolts.

 Great value for the price

The main difference between 7Idp ABS and the CB model is SERT technology and different outer material. No doubt carbon fiber shell with SERT (energy reduction technology) takes this helmet safety to the top level but you have to pay 110$ more for the same design. On the other hand, this ABS model is not only budget-friendly but also 70grams lesser in weight than the CB model.

 Updated design to maximize ventilation

This helmet design is a result of a 2-year 7iDP effort with the goal of producing ventilated and lightweight helmet that is downhill certified too. After testing I am impressed with this helmet ventilation. Its 23 big bore vent opening keeps my head cool during climbing all day long in warm weather conditions. This super-light but sturdy helmet design is especially suitable for the enduro-type application.

Pros
  • Lightweight and comfortable.
  • Best ventilated DH-certified mtb helmet.
  • Eyewear compatible.
  • Breakaway visor.
  • Multiple sizes and color options.
  • Washable inner pad lining (quickly releasable).
  • Best full-face helmet for enduro cycling.
Cons
  • Limited visor up and down movement.
  • Some riders claim about its loose-fitting.

What I Examine

This best full face MTB helmet has lots of great safety features along with a comfortable fitting. Moreover, this best downhill mountain bike helmet has excellent build quality. Its inner EPP core can also absorb multiple hits. However, its ventilation is not as good as the best enduro-style helmets. Furthermore, this helmet is not the lightest, but it is one of the safest full face helmets in the entire list of our recommendations.

   Long-lasting EPP inner core material

This best full face MTB helmet is paired with a multi-impact EPP inner core that offers excellent crash protection. According to the manufacturer, its EPP core remains undamaged after absorbing multiple hits. Furthermore, some users even say that they are using this helmet for more than two years and there is no crack or physical damage after multiple hits. However, according to our safety expert opinion, a rider how experienced a significant impact must replace his helmet.

Shearing pads inside or SPIN technology

The purpose of SPIN pads technology is almost similar to MIPS. There is gel-based material that places throughout the SPIN pads. These pads sit directly over the head and act as a sliding plane between the EPP core and the head. SPIN pads can shear in any direction to minimize the effect of an oblique impact. You can also remove these pads for washing purposes.

Breakaway visor also minimize the impact force

In a crash, Its breakaway visor pivots backward in almost 180 degrees instead of breaking. This breakaway visor prevents the rider’s head from twisting during the collision. In this way, there is minimum impact transfer to the neck. Several POC owners who met accidents are found this feature very helpful in the prevention of neck injuries.

   Dual flow ventilation

There are 14 intake vents including five vent ports across the brows. , These 5 vents do an amazing job by adding additional airflow to the forehead. Moreover, these five vents also keep fog-causing air out of the goggles. It is one of the amazing features of this helmet. But over expert does not rate it as a best-ventilated helmet.

However, its ventilation system works well up to 80’F. Anyhow, I recommend you remove its cheek pads to increase ventilation while climbing up.

Sung fitting pads of this helmet is the key to protection

In this full face MTB helmet, there is no dial knob for fitting adjustments. So, only sung fitting pads hold this helmet perfectly on the head. The neck-roll of this helmet does not allow the helmet to push away from the neck.

During the trial, this helmet was very tight especially around the jaw/cheek area at first, but after some time it was fine. Its removable cheek pads don’t squish my cheeks into the eyes. Moreover, these cheek pads added extra protection during the downhill ride. But I removed them for increased ventilation during the ride between the Enduro race stages. Furthermore, Its cheek pads with ear chambers design helped in healing and balancing this helmet on my head.

However, a bunch of spare pads along this helmet allow you to do fitting adjustments according to your face shape. There should not any space between the pads and the head. But sung fit does not mean that helmet have any odd pressure points or too tight-fitting.

What I Examine

This budget helmet holds all the certification that makes me feel secure during the aggressive ride. Its TFV (true functional ventilation) system is very effective. When I tested this helmet, I feel fresh air flow around my head even at a slow speed. Its TFV system force fresh air into the helmet through multiple intake vents that pass through the EPS channel and exhaust through rear vents. This airflow evaporated sweat quickly and made me feel like air conditioning around my head. Its larger vent opening is also very helpful to quickly drain water when used for jet skiing. Moreover, this helmet construction material also has good resistance to water.

 Equally suitable for all

This helmet comes with multiple size options that make it suitable for all children, adults, men, and women. I tested this helmet in large size for my head circumference 23inch. I found this helmet super comfortable and lightweight. After tightening its chin strap I have zero issues with this helmet movement while cycling on rough terrain.

Replacement parts of flying racing brand helmets are easily available on market. You can give this helmet a new life by changing its inner pad lining, cheek pads, and visor. This helmet paint and shell material are also durable enough.

Its uni-body constructed shell is bounded with a multi-density EPS inner core which can absorb energy from different speed impacts. According to the manufacturer, its multi-density EPS core remains undamaged after absorbing multiple hits.

What I Examine

It’s sung fitting with chin bar offers the best coverage to the face and head as needed in the best full face MTB helmet. It is very convenient to detach the chin bar by pressing down a button on the left and right sides of the chin bar. In open face mode, it also offers the best coverage to my head and ears. However, as compared to other convertible helmets, I felt it heavier and hotter in open face mode.

   Easily removable chin bar

I found its chin bar attaching and detaching mechanism very simple. For attaching, The rider just needs to align metal lugs and click them in place. And for detaching, there is a need of pressing two buttons right near the jaw bone. It is the only convertible helmet that uses cheek pads even when the chin bar is not attached. However, if you don’t want to carry your backpack on the ride, then storing its chin-guard after detaching is difficult.

Helmet with MIPS technology offers excellent protection

Its incredible sturdy shell with MIPS technology offers superior protection in case of an accident. MIPS technology lets the helmet slide relative to the skull and adds more protection against the rotational force transfer to the brain. After the survey, our research team found that many Giro switchblade owners who have met accidents are satisfied with its protection level.

   Hydrophilic inner pads lining

Its washable inner pad lining is hydrophilic and antimicrobial. According to the manufacturer, these pads can absorb sweat up to 10 times more than its weight. However, I did not test it experimentally. During the trial, these moisture-wicking pads provide cooling by evaporating sweat at 85’F temperature. There is no sweat pads dripping issue during the ride. But once these pads are fully saturated, then there is a need to press pads with a finger to drip down sweat.

   One-handed adjustment system

Its Roc Loc adjustment system includes a back knob that helps me to make a quick adjustment with one hand during cycling. During the ride, I moved its visor up and down with one hand to keep sunlight out of my eyes. But, you need a two-handed operation for attaching or detaching its chin-guard. Overall it is the best full face mtb helmet.

   Goggles accommodation

Its 4 points adjustable visor includes three riding positions, and the 4th high position use to park the goggle above the brow. There is also a channel in the back to hold the goggles strap. During the trial, I did not face any issues related to goggles parking or fogging-up.

    Ventilation

It’s Roc Loc Air DH fit system balance this helmet slightly off the top of my head. This adjustment allows some air to pass over the head and exhaust from the back. Moreover, there are 20 vent openings to increase cool air circulation around the head. As a full face helmet, I found its ventilation is not bad but as an open face helmet, it is relatively hotter.

   Certified helmet for DH ride

CPSC, EN-1078, and ASTM 1952 certification proved that it is the safest convertible helmet for downhill cycling, enduro, trail, skateboarding, and roller skates. Furthermore, after examination, our safety expert also declares this helmet safe for aggressive off-road cycling activities.

  • Comfortable & lightweight convertible helmet
  • Easily adjustable great fit system
  • Best mtb full face helmet
  • Easily switchable between the full and half face
  • Hydrophilic & washable inner pads
  • 4 step adjustable visor mechanism
  • Downhill standard ASTM 1952-DH Certified
  • Spare visor with camera mount

What I Examine

As compared to the latest D4, this D3 helmet comes with the same safety features at a great price point. Its chin guard has dual-density pads to keep teeth safe in case of chin bar impact. Cheek pads of this helmet also come out by pulling tabs strap in case of a neck injury. Moreover, its outer shell also has 2 layers of carbon fiber for more impact resistance. However, the ventilation and weight of the D3 model are not quite outstanding. So, to overcome these issues Troy Lee introduces the D4 model which is 160grams lightweight and more ventilated but almost double in price than D3.

The construction material of this helmet is quite impressive

The top layer of the shell is made of unidirectional carbon fiber. And underneath this top layer, there is a woven carbon fiber layer for more impact resistance. Moreover, dual-density EPS+EPP inner core material dissipates energy at high and low crash speed.

Removable and washable inner pad lining is made of high-quality moisture-wicking material. Furthermore, the chin strap comes with the most secure stainless steel D-ring fastener.

   High level of protection

The highest build quality of this helmet gives the best coverage to the head. There is extra foam in a certain area to enhance the protection level. This heavily padded helmet makes me feel secure and protected while wearing it. Moreover, dual-density pads in the chin bar can keep teeth safe in case of a front impact. Due to its double padded chin bar, our safety expert mark this helmet safest for downhill riding. But our experts show a little disappointment about this helmet because it does not have any rotational impact protection technology.

   Quick-release cheek pads

This unique feature is really helpful for an emergency case of helmet removal. In case of head injury, a first aider can easily remove this helmet by pulling out cheek pads. Thus the chance of further damage minimize during helmet removal.

   Air channel through EPS foam

This helmet is not super breathable because it has a relatively small vent opening. Furthermore, all the vents are cover with a wire mesh screen. But there are brow ports that channel cool air into the helmet and exhaust through 6 back vents. During the trial, I found its front-to-back air channeling through EPS foam very effective at high-speed cycling. But at slow speed, I felt like melting at 90’F.

Its sung fitting does not have odd pressure points

I feel this helmet a little tight in the fitting. However, there is neither a dial knob nor spare pads for fitting adjustment. But its heavily padded inside feels soft to my face. Maybe, you feel this helmet a little tight at the start but after some rides, pads loosen up and adjust according to your head shape. During the examination, we found that the crown of this helmet fits beautifully on every head shape. Moreover, there is a wraparound design underneath of forehead to keep the liner from moving down.

   Caution

This helmet comes with multiple size option. If your head circumference is on the edge of two sizes then it better to choose the upper size for this helmet.

Pros
  • Multiple size option
  • Attractive graphic design
  • Best BMX full-face helmet
  • Breakaway visor
  • Compatible with goggles
  • Excellent quality material for the price
  • Helmet with 5 certification
  • The dual pads chin bar
  • Quick-release cheek pads
  • Removable inner pads for wash
  • Go-Pro mount on top
Cons
  • A little heavy
  • Not much breathable
  • D-strap is hard to get on and off
  • Not a MIPS helmet

What I Examine

This best budget full face helmet gives a better look than other expensive helmets. During the trial, I feel this helmet secure and safer than any other expensive open face helmet. If you are an average rider and want standard full-face protection, then this helmet is the best option. MIPS version of this helmet is also available but you have to pay 35$ more for it than the standard version. However, after examination, we found this helmet relatively hotter and heavier than the bell sanction full-face helmet.

Vent holes near the ears help you to hear very clearly

There is limited hearing ability due to ears coverage by full face helmet pads. But this helmet solved this problem by giving two vent holes perfectly above the ears. You can also use a Bluetooth headset with this helmet.

   Excellent visibility

A full face helmet increases face protection, but on the other hand, you have to compromise on excellent visibility and ventilation. But this best full face MTB helmet offers good visibility. There is also plenty of room for sunglasses. During the trial, I could see other people, bike tire, and everything around me easily. However, there was an average airflow around my head. Our expert also rated it as an average ventilated helmet.

   Good visibility

This helmet has a relatively fewer number of vent openings. However, according to the manufacturer, these vent sizes and shapes are designed by experts to maintain good airflow around the head and face and a rider can use it all through summer. But I did not find this helmet comfortable above 95’F temperature.

   Comfortable helmet

You feel this full face bicycle helmet a little tight at the start but it is easy to put on/take off. Moreover, it offers satisfactory ventilation and good visibility. You can also hear other people clearly with this helmet on your head. All these features make it a comfortable full face mountain bike helmet.

   Design and graphic

This is a great-looking well-made helmet for the price. During the examination, I did not find any outside surface imperfection. Moreover, this helmet comes in 9 different eye-catching colors and graphic designs. It is also padded as a motorcycle helmet.

Customers are satisfied with this helmet protection

The most important purpose of every helmet is to give impact protection. Its tough polycarbonate shell makes the Podium full face helmet safe. It meets all the CPSC safety standards. Moreover, It has protected many user heads from injury. Customers are satisfied with this great product. But our safety experts do not recommend it for professional riders. They mark it safe for an average rider.

Its adjustable sun visor can park goggles underneath

Its adjustable visor is nicely placed to keep the sun out of the eyes. Overall it is the best full-face helmet with a visor. If you need eye protection from dirt or other contaminants, then this helmet can also adopt airtight goggles. However, it is a bit difficult to park goggles underneath the sun visor after moving it to up-position.

Pros
  • Bluetooth headset adoptable
  • Good ventilation
  • Available in all sizes
  • Best budget full-face MTB helmet
  • Back channel to hold goggles strap
  • Comfortable
  • Nice looking
  • Storage bag in accessories
Cons
  • Some customer of round face shape has the fitting issue
  • Not a MIPS helmet
  • A little Heavy

What I Examine

If you are a BMX rider and looking for the best mountain bike helmet under 100$ then this helmet is a suitable option. As compared to the same price Demon united podium helmet, the Bell sanction is lightweight and more ventilated. However, the protection level of both helmets is the same.

   Suitable for child and adults

This helmet is designed for adults, but its x-small size also fits nicely to a child of age less than 5 years. Before purchasing, measure the head circumference above the ears. Then consult the guide for a good size match. During the examination, I found this helmet is a little on the small side. So, If your head circumference is on the edge of two sizes then it better to choose the upper size for this helmet.

Tight-fitting at first but lose a bit after sometime

It’s a budget BMX full-face helmet. So, there is a decent amount of thick but soft padding on the cheeks and back of the helmet to maintain snug fitting. If you feel uncomfortable, then the helmet size is probably small. But if you feel it bulky, then the size is probably big. During the evaluation, I found it a bit tight but, there are small gaps in the foam cushion to allow air to circulate. It is a little difficult for this helmet to accommodate long hairs.

   Acceptable full face Protection

Its protection level is satisfactory due to the ABS shell material and EPS foam core. Moreover, ABS material is much cheaper, lightweight, and hard. This helmet meets all the CPSC safety standards and did a great job by protecting many average riders’ heads from injuries. Customers are satisfied with this great product. However, our safety expert does not recommend it for aggressive adult riders.

   Good ventilation and Comfort

As we all know, A full face helmet protects the entire head, chin, and face. However, with increase protection, a rider has to compromise on ventilation and comfort. But this helmet comes with 15 vent openings to maintain cool air circulation around your neck, jaws, and head. As compared to other full face helmets in this budget, I found this helmet ventilation good enough. Moreover, its lightweight with inner foam padding makes this helmet fit properly. All these features increase the comfort level of an average rider. Moreover, I did not find any problem with this helmet goggles compatibility.

Pros
  • Best budget full face MTB helmet
  • Available in different size options
  • Attractive graphic design
  • Also suitable for skateboarding and roller skates

  • Best Mtb full-face helmet

Its aerodynamic design has 20 big vents openings that maximize cool air circulation around the head, jaws, neck, and face. During the trial, my head did not get sweat at 85’F temperature. On a pretty hot day, this helmet feels like air conditioning around the head due to sweat evaporation.

In-mold construction of outer shell with polycarbonate material makes this helmet very light in weight. In open face mode, our head of testing team declared it the best trail helmet for the all-day ride in summer.
